
The Rt Hon. Lord Wei of Shoreditch
Lord Wei is a Conservative life peer, respected thought leader, and social entrepreneur with a distinguished track record in civic innovation, education, and public service. As the first British-born person of Hong Kong heritage to sit in the House of Lords, he made history not only through his heritage but also as the youngest member of the Upper House from 2010 to 2016.
A driving force behind the UK Government’s “Big Society” initiative, Lord Wei served as its official adviser, helping to shape national policy on community empowerment and social reform. His work spans founding roles in major initiatives including Teach First, the Shaftesbury Partnership, Maker Life, and advisory positions with organisations such as Absolute Return for Kids and Future Planet Capital. He is also a former fellow of both the Young Foundation and the World Economic Forum's Young Global Leaders.
Lord Wei continues to advise in the fields of technology, business, and social impact, and sits on the House of Lords Science and Technology Committee. His enduring passion lies in civic renewal and protecting educational freedom, where he serves as Patron—bringing deep expertise, strategic insight, and a steadfast commitment to empowering families, educators, and communities.
